Whether you’re a fan of leisurely strolls or a seasoned hiker, the Périgord Inattendu is full of varied walking trails: forests, valleys, limestone cliffs and a few other treasures along the way!

In this article, we take a look at the most beautiful walks in the Dordogne, from family hikes to more challenging routes, so you can explore the Unexpected Périgord on foot, at your own pace!

The Périgord Inattendu: the Périgord of hiking!

Throughout the Périgord Ribéracois and the Pays de Saint-Aulaye you’ll find a multitude of waymarked footpaths!

A map awaits you at the start of each village, and all you have to do is follow the yellow markers!

To find out about the trails and prepare yourself before you set off, take a look at the route!

Maps of the area’s footpaths are available from the Périgord Ribéracois Tourist Office (price: €2.30 to €3.50).

They list the signposted trails in the area, with details of the nature of the walk (length and number of km, difficulty, on foot, mountain bike).
