This year’s European Heritage Days are on Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 September 2025 in Périgord Inattendu.
So what’s on this weekend’s agenda?
Here are a few extracts from the programme:
Let’s start with a bit of history
Take a trip back in time to the heart of Antiquity. In Petit-Bersac, this museum opens its doors to you to show you a collection of remains and objects from the Gallo-Roman era, because yes, the region was occupied at that time! The museum is open to the public from 2.30pm to 6pm.

Then off to Tocane Saint-Apre for a weekend of immersion! Discover this must-see site in the Unexpected Périgord region, which offers self-guided tours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with no need to book. There are also storytelling tours at 2.30pm and 4pm (booking required) and guided tours at 11.30am.
On Sunday 21, enjoy a pony ride for children from 10am to 6pm, and to prolong the pleasure, the Guinguette du Château will be open from 7pm on Saturday.

Discovering a mysterious place…
- La Ruche des Patriotes (Masonic Temple)
Open the doors of its temple in Ribérac: guided tours and commentary to discover the history of the lodge from 9am to 12pm and from 2pm to 6pm (anecdotes, photos, short bios and documents to discover), with 2 immersive sessions at 10.30am and 3pm that will allow you to experience a highlight of the Masonic ritual “the circulation of the word” (duration 1 hour).
The visit is free and open to all.

- Montplaisir House
Visit on Saturday 20 September at La Roche Chalais: Visits at 3pm, 4pm and 5pm (registration required). Built in the modern era in the 18th century, this house may have been a folly:

- The museums of Saint-Privat en Périgord
Immerse yourself in the past at the Museum of Tools and Village Life, with its collection of tools and objects of all kinds! Or discover the world in miniature in the Miniature Heritage Museum and butterfly collection.
Admission to both museums is free! They will be open all day on Sunday 21 September.

And now we turn our attention to our religious heritage…
Almost all the churches in the Périgord Inattendu region are open to the public throughout the year, but some are offering guided tours on the occasion of this Heritage Days weekend, so you can find out more!
- Saint-Méard de Drône
Church of Saint-Médard: Guided tours at 10am, 11am, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and 5pm on Sunday 21 September.

Concert by the Saïga duo on Sunday 21 September at 5pm.
