Église Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul
Saint-Paul-Lizonne
The church is recorded in 1365 as “Sanctus Paulus de Lizonna”.
In 1399, it is again referred to as “Sanctus Paulus de Drone”. The eastern parts of the original 12th-century church were fortified during the Hundred Years’ War.
The Romanesque nave was replaced by a mid-17th-century structure, during which time the bell tower was raised. The panelled ceiling, painted by Paradol and listed as a Movable Object on 26 July 1951, also dates from this period. The nave walls were rebuilt in the 19th century, as indicated by the date 1860 on one of the southern buttresses.
