Musée du Cognac et du Vin

Saint-Aulaye-Puymangou

Saint-Aulaye lies on the border between the Dordogne and Charente departments. The only fortified town in the Périgord Vert region welcomes you on a promontory overlooking the Dronne valley. This is the Cognac AOC region and, in addition to a 12th-century Romanesque church with a Saintonge-style facade, Saint-Aulaye is home to a Cognac Ecomuseum, housed in a former farm building.

Take a chronological tour and discover the spirit and skills of the distiller, cellar master, winemaker and cooper. Visit the cellars, learn the secrets of wine-making and admire a number of traditional wine-making objects, including an 18th-century still and a double screw press.

Open to the public from 15 July to 16 August, Tuesday to Saturday, 2.30pm to 6.30pm.

The rest of the year, by appointment for groups.
