Église Saint Michel
La Roche-Chalais
This building was the church of a priory mentioned in the 12th century in the Barbezieux cartulary. Only the western façade and the first bay of the nave remain from this period.
By 1460, the church had become the seat of a preceptory under the command of Chante-Géline.
At the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, the nave and apse were rebuilt.
In the 17th century, a portal was built into the south wall. Shortly afterwards, the west facade was topped by a bell tower with fins.
