Musée Gallo-Romain

Petit-bersac

In the Val de Dronne, a few kilometres from Ribérac, the Musée Gallo-Romain de Petit-Bersac presents the history of the archaeological site of Cidène. This village in the Périgord Vert region has been occupied since pre-Roman times, and a number of remarkable remains, including thermal baths and a large sewer, are buried here.

During the excavations carried out by archaeologist Jean Pichardie, a large number of objects were unearthed, and these are now on display in the municipal museum housed in the outbuildings of the church. Pottery, ceramics, bronzes, ornaments, coins and tools are on display in a vast room equipped with display cases and explanatory panels. Take advantage of your visit to discover the Romanesque church of Petit-Bersac, or its beach…
